  • Lionel Messi, if you know anything about football (soccer) is to many, the greatest football (soccer) player that has ever lived. The 29 year old Argentinian had been with FC Barcelona since he was 14 years old and in their first team since he was 17. He has won just about every accolade and award in the game with his club multiple times over, though sadly not a major tournament for country… yet. Messi is a football genius, a rare talent that if one is fortunate, one sees only once in a lifetime or hears about.

Messi is the only football player in history to win five FIFA Ballons d’Or, four of which he won consecutively, and the first player to win three European Golden Shoes. With Barcelona he has won eight La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles, as well as four Copas del Rey. Messi holds the records for most goals scored in La Liga, a La Liga season (50), a football season (82), and a calendar year (91), as well as those for most assists made in La Liga and the Copa América.

I could try to describe Messi’s genius. But why should I? My favorite and most entertaining football commentator is Ray Hudson. No one does it better than him.. Here are direct Ray Hudson descriptions of Lionel Messi:

“They tell me that all men are equal in God’s eyes, this player makes you seriously think about those words.”

“Brilliant!. magic!, aaaaaaaagh!, absolute genius again from Messi! They tried to kick him, they tried to plow him into the ground. And what you do then? You try to put fire out with gasoline! Don’t look for him in the Xs and Os. He doesn’t live there. He doesn’t live in the tactical world or the technical world. He lives in the magnetic spectrum of genius. You could corral him with a dozen alligators and still he’d weave his way out!”

“Lionel Messi, man, is like a zombie hunter looking for a twinkie.
Come the pressurized moments, the pressure makes diamonds that is Lionel Messi. This Real Madrid side if nothing else are so mentally tough. They find a way to come back out of the closet. But that little werewolf there he just sunk his fangs right into them.”

“Beautiful football like this should be outlawed. It’s so heavenly! Who else is it but Chameleon Eyes.. Finds, leads, dagger out.. Beautiful finish! He had a square man running but he’s audacious enough to say “I see ya, buddy but I don’t need ya.”

There is more but why?? Judge for yourself. Watch and Enjoy!
