It is often said that the number 13 is an unlucky number. That the number 13 brings with it miserable luck! The author of that piece of wisdom forgot to send the memo to our nominees for The Pro Football Player of Week 13 who set the NFL afire with mind bending excellence. Every weekend, we try to be as open minded as possible in our nominations, to open the door to as many new nominees as we can, but week after week, repeat BadaSSitude from a few perennial BadaSSes effectively closes the door to more new nominees! With that said, we couldn’t be more persuaded that these are the 4 most deserving nominees for The BadaSSitude Pro Football Player of Week 13. It turns out that in this Week 13, all our nominees are veterans of this nomination and among them we have a number of previous winners.
Ray Rice, #27, Running Back for the Baltimore Ravens rushed for 204 yards, nearly more yards than the 233 yards gained by the entire Cleveland Browns for the game. Ray Rice carried the ball 29 times for 204 yards to lead the Baltimore Ravens to a 24 – 10 win over the Cleveland Browns, He added 1 touchdown for the day, protecting the ball with 0 fumbles as the Ravens upped their record to 9-3 for a tie atop the AFC North with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has been a BadaSSitude winner here before and we are happy to nominate Ray Rice again for The BadaSSitude Pro Football Player of Week 13.
For the first time this season, Aaron Rodgers, #12 Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and his teammates had a very brief encounter with near defeat. But it was the character of the last minute drive to avert overtime and win decisively that cemented Aaron’s nomination once again. New York had just tied the game with 58 seconds left. Two pass plays later, Aaron Rodgers had his team in field goal range with more than 20 seconds to still run off the clock. Impressive is not the word I am looking for but it will do! For the game, Rodgers completed 28 of 46 passes for 369 yards 4 touch downs and a quarterback rating of 106.2. Green Bay beat the New York Giants 38 – 35 to remain unbeaten. Rodgers has won BadaSSitude honors before and this was an easy nomination.
Chris Johnson, #28 Running Back for the Tennessee Titans is back! For most of the season many of us were asking where he was. No more. Against the Buffalo Bills, in a game the Titans won 23 – 17, Johnson was everywhere. He rushed 23 times for a total of 153 yards and scoring 2 touch downs. His two touchdowns marched his season total to date while more than half his total yards for the season have come in the last 2 games. This is clearly a player who has rediscovered his BadaSSitude. He has been a nominee before and we are happy to have him back.
James Harrison, #92, Outside Linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been here on more than one occasion before. In Week 13, the Pittsburgh Steelers went up to visit AFC South Division rivals Cincinnati Bengals – in a division slobber-knocker not meant for the faint of heart. In the game in which the Pittsburgh Steelers smacked the Bengals every which way to a 35 – 7 win, Andy Dalton was sacked 3 times. All 3 sacks were by James Harrison for 24 sack yards, raising his total for the season to 8 sacks. The BadaSS added 5 tackles, 1 assist and 3 quarterback hits. This BadaSS has won the BadaSSitude honors before and we like him for nominee for The BadaSSitude Pro Football Player of Week 13
