After witnessing the biggest meltdown in World Series history, I am definitely excited for week eight of the NFL to be upon us. It is amazing that three NFL teams are still winless: the Colts, the Dolphins, and the Rams. The Dolphins are obviously trying to lock down the number one pick after the fourth quarter meltdown against a Bronco team they were beating for most of the game. Come on, you had to know Tebow was going to run the ball for the two point conversion, yet the 11 Dolphin defenders were clueless. My opinion is the Dolphins were determined to find a way to lose. There are a number of intriguing matchups this week, but three of these matchups are must see.
The obvious game to watch this week is the Patriots vs the Steelers. The Patriots have owned the Steelers five of the last six in Pittsburgh, which doesn’t bode well for the Steelers. So far this year, the Steelers are undefeated at home, but always seem to have trouble with the Patriots. If the Steelers want to win, they really need to establish their ground game in order to keep Brady off the field. If the Steelers fail to do that, then Brady will once again lay waste to the Steelers. Even though the Steelers’ offensive line is struggling, I think the Steelers will finally get over their Patriot woes and pull out a win. Final score prediction: Patriots 28 Steelers 31.
Another game that will be great is the Cowboys vs the Eagles. The Cowboys are coming off of a good win over the Rams. I realize the Rams stink, but the Cowboys looked good on offense, especially in the running game. Will they be able to replicate that against the Eagle’s defense? Probably not, but at least that have some sort of running game now. The Eagles have the best ground game with McCoy, however the Cowboys have one of the best rush defenses. Whoever wins that battle will win the game. The Cowboys will stop McCoy, and torch their defense in the air and on the ground. The Cowboys will win this game on the road 34-17.
Another intriguing game will be the Lions vs the Broncos. Now we both know who will win this game, however it is possible that Tebow finds another way to lead the Broncos to a win. The Lions have lost their last two games, and they will be looking to have a bounce back game against the Broncos in Denver. Tebow will be playing his first full game in front the home crowd, so the atmosphere will be electric…at least for a quarter. The Lions are definitely not the Dolphins, so unless Tebow miraculously starts passing the ball with some accuracy, the Lions will be winning 17-0 by the end of the first. The Denver fans will soon wish Orton was still the quarterback because the Lions will rout the Broncos, 42-9.
