Week six of the NFL featured six games where the game was decided by six points or less. One of these games was the 49ers versus the Lions, where the 49ers gave the Lions their first loss of the season. Now there are only three teams left that have zeros in their win loss record: the Packers, the Colts, and the Rams. The Packers are the only undefeated team left, and the Colts and Rams are in the Luck lottery. There were many standout players this week, but only four players rose above the rest to earn the BadaSSitude player of the week nomination. The running backs really made a showing in the nominations this week, with three running backs and one wide receiver being nominated.
The first player we nominate is Michael Turner #33, running back for the Atlanta Falcons. Turner carried the ball twenty seven times for 139 yards and two touchdowns. The Falcons were losing to the Panthers going into the fourth quarter, but Matt Ryan scored a touchdown to pull ahead of the Panthers 24-17. Turner put the dagger in the backside of the Panthers by rushing for a two yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Throughout the game, Turner was able to shred the Panther defense for over five yards per carry.
The second player we nominate is Ahmad Bradshaw #44, running back for the New York Giants. Bradshaw carried the Giants to a win over the Bills by scoring all three of their touchdowns. Bradshaw was able to carve the Bill’s defense for 104 yards on 26 carries, which is four yards per carry. This is by far Bradshaw’s best game of this season, and he is capable of repeating his efforts many times this season.
The third player we nominate is Marques Colston #12, wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints. Colston had a monster game in a losing effort against the Bucs, catching seven passes for 118 yards and one touchdown. Colston was a favorite target of Brees, making up nearly 25% of the Saint’s offense. Colston continues to be a main target for Brees and has the potential to have another big year.
The fourth player we nominate is Frank Gore #21, running back for the San Francisco 49ers. Gore slashed the Lions defense for 141 yards and one touchdown with only fifteen carries. That translates into an astounding 9.4 yards per carry, which is almost a first down every time Gore touched the ball. Gore has been on a three game tear, going over 100 yards in each of those games and scoring a touchdown in each game. Gore is only beginning to heat up this season, and looks to be on course for a huge year.
So who do you think should be our BadaSSitude player of the week?
